Craig Richmond

Craig Richmond is a transformational, healthcare thought leader with a passion for building thriving organizations and sustaining a competitive advantage in any economic environment. Richmond is a purpose-driven, strategic executive who is deeply committed to people and communities with a goal of finding innovative solutions to overcome the most pressing medical and social issues.

Richmond’s experience spans over 25 years leading and partnering with a range of healthcare organizations to improve their overall strategic position and operating performance by optimizing the alignment of people, process, and technology.  Most recently, Richmond served as MetroHealth’s Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and System Services Officer. Richmond led and advanced all facets of MetroHealth’s financial and system services, including supply chain, information technology, corporate finance, treasury, capital planning, investor relations, revenue cycle, internal audit, enterprise data analytics, and the enterprise program management office. During his 13-year tenure, MetroHealth’s total assets grew from approximately $670 million to $2.5 billion, and its total operating revenues grew from $708 million to $1.6 billion.

Richmond also held leadership positions within management consulting at Huron Consulting Group, Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen.  During that time, he led many healthcare organizations through complex clinical, operational, digital, and financial performance improvement strategies aimed at achieving sustained, transformational change.

Richmond is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Management Information Systems and Decision Support Systems from the University of Delaware. Richmond is a frequent contributor to thought leadership presentations and publications in the areas of operational excellence and leadership. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences as well as a guest lecturer at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.

Richmond was most recently recognized with the 2022 Notables in Finance by Crain’s Cleveland Business .  He was also honored with the 2015 CFO of the Year Award for Large Non-Profit by Crain’s Cleveland Business and named to Becker’s 150 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know from 2015-2019. Richmond received the Smart Business 2016 Smart 50 Award, which recognizes Northeast Ohio’s top executives for ability to effectively build and lead successful organizations.
