Michael Prilutsky

Executive Vice President,
RWJBarnabas Health

Michael Prilutsky is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Jersey City Medical Center, a premier hospital in Hudson County and a facility of RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive academic health care system.  In 2022, he was promoted to Executive Vice President for RWJBarnabas Health, with responsibilities over the Northeast Region and the Combined Medical Group and various other regional business units and service lines.

Mr. Prilutsky joined RWJBarnabas Health as Chief Operating Officer for Jersey City Medical Center in 2016 and was named President and Chief Executive Officer in October 2018.  An anchor institution and champion of Healing, Enhancing and Investing in Hudson County, under his leadership, Jersey City Medical Center has grown exponentially to become the hospital of choice in Hudson County.  The hospital has expanded service lines and footprint, to include the opening of the Lord Abbett Maternity Wing, the Center for Sleep Disorders, and the Madeline LoRe Fiadini Foundation Infusion Center, thus establishing a CINJ partnership for a comprehensive center for cancer care.  In 2022, JCMC finished an expansion of the Emergency Department and Operating Rooms, doubling the size of both areas as part of a $110M project, and opened a number of large ambulatory hubs throughout Hudson County.

With over 20 years in the healthcare industry prior to joining JCMC, Mr. Prilutsky advanced through positions of increasing responsibility in New York City’s academic health systems.  He led diverse clinical business units and strategic initiatives, spanning from the premier service line leadership, to major ($250-million) Information Technology implementations, to hospital mergers and acquisitions, to running one of NYC’s largest primary care networks.  With his commitment to health equity, JCMC established vital programs like the Trauma Recovery Center and the Green Apple Rx Food FARMacy to address social determinants of health.  Prilutsky is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Finance Committee and on the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, Board of Officers, as a Vice Chair.

Mr. Prilutsky received his graduate degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas and completed a Leadership Executive Program at Columbia University Business School and an American College of Healthcare Executives-accredited fellowship in the Veterans’ Affairs Medical System, in Providence and Boston, where he dedicated a year to multiple initiatives to improve effectiveness and availability of healthcare services to veterans.

Michael and his wife, Anna, have two children.
